Concert Ensembles
Wind Ensemble
The Orange High School Wind Ensemble is the top performing ensemble within the OHS Band Program. The group is comprised of student musicians who have demonstrated advanced skills on their instrument, and enrollment in the class is determined by audition. The Wind Ensemble class meets daily in the spring semester and performs at MPA, the spring band concert, and other performance opportunities available in the semester.
Symphonic Band
The Orange High School Symphonic Band is comprised of student musicians who have demonstrated intermediate skills on their instrument. There is no audition requirement for enrollment in Symphonic Band, though previous experience on your instrument is required. The Symphonic Band class meets daily in the spring semester and performs at MPA, the spring band concert, and other performance opportunities available in the semester.
Percussion Ensemble
Percussion Ensemble is the band class for high school percussionists. This course explores numerous percussion fundamentals and standards, including the 40 PAS Drum Rudiments, music notation reading, rhythmic development, and Percussion Ensemble repertoire. Percussion Ensemble meets in both the fall and spring semesters, and student should be enrolled in both as it is a year-long course. Though this course is designed to be percussion focused and specific, members of the Percussion Ensemble will perform with the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band at concerts, in addition to the Percussion Ensemble repertoire.
Students who are interested in joining Percussion Ensemble but have little or no music experience are able to enroll in this course upon director approval.
